I am Jamison Roy.

I am a student of many passions currently studying Video Production and Digital Media at Marymount Manhattan College in New York. I'm constantly looking for opportunities to gain experience and try my hand at new skills.

Originally from Salem NH, I grew up singing and performing any chance I had. I spent my childhood involved in Youth Theatre locally, and later began training more seriously in an educational program at The Palace Theatre as a teen. Theatre is a very significant part of who I am, even though it is not my course of study. It was a large part of my decision to move to New York City for school.

My passion for film and video developed at a very young age. My brother and I would spend several of our afternoons after school creating short films and learning to create things using only resources from around the house. It was an easy decision to move forward in the next stage of my life focusing on my passion for filmmaking, and creative expression in general. I have a big imagination and enjoy nearly all types of creative outlets.

In addition to Film and Theatre, I have always had a fascination with music, specifically the construction and composition of it. Musicality has never been something I've had a hard time expressing. I am an aspiring composer and am constantly thinking of new ways to write music in ways that can invoke thought and tell meaningful stories.

Besides work on the stage, I have developed a passion for prop making in Theatre. I have a fascination with trying my hand at different props, puppets, or practical effects that otherwise are not understood entirely by the general audience. Using purely my own design I have created effects such as Pinocchio's Extending Nose for Shrek The Musical, The King's levitating body for Pippin, and a fully articulated emoting Olaf puppet for Frozen. I am always interested in challenging myself to solve problems in the most original, efficient, and effective way.

More recently, I am in the early stages of starting my own theatrical prop and puppet rental company. Beginning with my originally designed custom Olaf puppet for Frozen, I am in the process of designing different show kits that will hopefully be available for rent in the coming year.

I like to think of myself as an all around creative person, and equally capable. With that in mind, I am always looking for new opportunities, experiences, and ways to challenge myself.
